The Great British Larder Ltd. incorporated in Jan 2017 is a sales marketplace and support framework for the UK artisan food and drink sector, a £15Bn / year industry. With a vision to showcase Britain’s often unsung food & drink heroes; their stories, passions, and creations, the client wanted to provide a marketplace where people can easily find and buy the artisans-made beautiful products. Additionally, they wished to create a support framework for producers to help get the British food sector and local communities work together properly again. Hence they connected with Rocket Bazaar to fulfill this vision.

Challenge
TGBL Ltd. wanted to create a support framework for the SME producers to be able to compete with large-scale wholesalers and retailers effectively. They needed to offer an arrangement of tools & information and preparing on a membership premise, enabling SME makers to be more compelling with their opportunity. To build multivendor marketplace application, where producers sell directly to their customers and an unspecified number of single vendor sites, where TGBL will be the vendor reselling producers products to customers. Also, integration with several third-party systems for social marketing, searching the vendors on a map, advanced search feature, different pricing for types of buyers and businesses and many more.
Approach
To satiate the requisites of TGBL client, Rocket Bazaar incorporated the readymade marketplace solution based on the Magento Platform. Rocket Bazaar fulfilled the below-mentioned features, and some other custom build features:
  • The site utilizes geolocation to enable the customer to look at a confined range from a location if required or to search across the UK for the producers/vendors with the help of Mapbox API.
  • The user experience is media-rich, with video and imagery creating a personal identification with the products and vendors on the site.
  • An instinctive producer (vendor) portal for various sales/business related functions available for managing their business.
  • Product pricing management for B2C, B2B and B2D type customer and volume based discount pricing using tier price under vendor panel and admin panel.
  • Commission charges for the producers of different types.
  • Integration with Stripe Connect payment which is aggregate payment gateway to pay the vendors after deducting the admin commission instantly.
  • Comprehensive implementation of TAX as per UK laws.
  • Developed the shipping charge breakups with having the additional charge for more than one quantity and charging the extra for the handling of the product.
  • Customers can subscribe to particular vendor/producer newsletter & blog to get the updates of that vendor.
  • Vendors can publish their own blog posts on the website.
  • Map vendor website name with validation to make sure unique domain/store name and vendor domain-specific URL is generated.
  • Customers can scan the site for either a vendor or product with most reliable and scalable Algolia search.
